Good Life Journal - Matthew 7

Matthew 7: 1-3 “Do not judge others and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own eye?”

Here, Jesus is teaching for us to not judge others, but act with kindness. Our actions toward others is how we will be treated. God is the only one righteous who can judge and He will judge based on our measure we give. How can we condemn a brother for something small when we have obvious issues of our own which need correction?

I need to remember that we need to have mercy and show love to all. This is not to say that we would let sin go unchecked. However, there is a difference between judging and ministering to a person in need. Jesus wants us to act out of the love of the Spirit and help others not point a finger at them. As I write l on the morning of our election, I am reminded that I should have compassion and love for others who do not share our faith or may not share the Christian worldview that would influence their vote. While I strive to move forward in my discipleship process, I must recognize that I am still a work in progress and have areas of personal growth to focus on before I consume myself with other’s actions.

Father, Please help me not to judge others. You are the only worthy to judge. Let me be led by your Spirit to share your love and gospel to help others. May I continue to grow in faith and change my own attitude of judgement on those who think differently.
