“But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their counsels.”
In Psalm 81 the psalmist writes on the promise of God. If His people turn to Him and seek Him then He will be with them. However, they chose to do otherwise and followed after false gods and did not listen to the voice of the Lord. What is interesting is that God’s punishment was to give them over to their hearts. Sometimes the worst punishment of all is being given what you want.
This should inform the way that I pray. Too often my prayers can be centered on what I want and my heart’s desire. Maybe a better way is too focus and listen on God’s voice and ask Him to reshape my desires to match His.
God help me to be attentive to Your voice. I desire to hear from Your and let my prayers be in line with what you desire for my life.
