Scripture : Ephesians 2:4-6 – “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
Observation : Ephesians chapter two discusses our identity in Jesus. It is given to the believer by grace and through faith. Verses 4-6 show the power of the gospel, that even when we were dead in sin God made us alive and not only cancelled our debt but credited to us Jesus.
Application : My identity is in Jesus. I am no longer dead to sin but I have been made alive in Christ. Even further He has seated me with himself in heaven. This should change the way that I live. Why be so concerned with the things that can stress and bog me down on earth when they will not last? If something doesn’t have eternal consequence does it really matter? Today I want to live in my identity in Christ and with an eye set on eternity.
Prayer : Thank You Jesus for loving me even when I was dead in sin. For your grace and mercy and for Your righteousness. Help me to live today in light of eternity.
